Exchange rates

React Box tracks the official rates published by Bank Al-Maghrib. They are used to convert your foreign-currency documents, to follow a currency over time, and to alert you when a threshold is crossed.

What the rates are for

A single source of rates, three distinct uses.

  • Consult the official Bank Al-Maghrib rates, updated automatically every business day.
  • Convert foreign-currency invoices, purchases and receipts into your organization's currency.
  • Watch a currency and get an alert as soon as it crosses the threshold you set.

The source: Bank Al-Maghrib

The rates come from the quotations published by the Moroccan central bank, fetched several times a day to account for the lag between the value date and the publication time. Every rate is dated: React Box keeps the history, which makes it possible both to draw a curve and to retrieve the exact rate for a given day.

Note

All values are expressed in Moroccan dirham: a rate tells you how much one unit of the foreign currency is worth in MAD.

The three published rates

Bank Al-Maghrib publishes several rates for the same currency; they do not serve the same purpose.

  • Transfer rate

The reference rate, used for account-to-account operations. It is the one React Box uses for all of its accounting conversions.

  • Banknotes · buy

The rate at which banks buy foreign banknotes back, so the one you get when exchanging cash.

  • Banknotes · sell

The rate at which banks sell foreign banknotes, so the one you pay to buy cash.

Consulting the rates

Two complementary tools, available to every organization.

  • History chart

Follow several currencies side by side over one month, three months, six months or a year, and switch between the transfer rate and the banknote rates.

  • Converter

Instantly convert an amount into dirham at the latest known transfer rate, without leaving the page.
