# Tags

Tags are labels you define to retrieve your documents according to your own logic: by fiscal year, by supplier, by project, by campaign. They complement the folder organization.

## Defined at the organization level

Each tag belongs to your organization. You decide the list — your collaborators and the members of your accounting firm then use this shared list. Two different organizations can have tags with the same name without conflict.

## On a folder or on a document

A tag can be attached at two levels depending on what you want to express.

* On a folder  
To qualify the entire folder — for example, tag a custom folder "2024 archives" with a "Closed" tag.
* On a document  
To label a specific document — for example, attach the "Supplier Maroc Telecom" tag to every invoice from that provider.

## Tag categories

You can group your tags by category so a long list doesn't become unreadable. For example, a "Fiscal years" category that contains the tags 2023, 2024, 2025, and a "Suppliers" category with one tag per main supplier. Categories are optional: a tag can perfectly well stay uncategorized.

## Icons and colors

Each tag can be personalized with an icon — chosen from a palette of about forty Lucide icons — and a color from the brand palette. This visual code makes it easier to spot in the document list.

## A few typical use cases

* By fiscal year  
One tag per year lets you instantly retrieve every document for a fiscal year when you're closing the books.
* By supplier  
Ideal for recurring purchase invoices — at a glance you identify everything coming from the same provider.
* By project or worksite  
Lets you isolate the analytical cost of a project (equipment, contracts, related invoices).
* By marketing campaign  
Brings together every document related to a specific commercial operation.

## Permissions

Two permissions govern tag management.

* tag:view — see and use existing tags.
* tag:manage — create, edit, and delete tags and categories. Includes tag:view.
