# Supported documents

What you can drop in, within which limits, and what React Box pulls out depending on the kind of document.

Updated on September 11, 2026

## Formats and limits

The same rules apply to all three entry points.

* PDF — the most reliable format, including for multi-page documents.
* Images — a phone photo, a screen capture, a copier scan.
* 20 MB per file at most. Beyond that, the file can still be kept in the vault but not analysed.
* CSV and Excel — reserved for bank statements: they are read as a table, without going through image analysis.

## What improves the reading

A full page, sharp, shot straight on and well lit is almost always read correctly. The usual traps are a document cropped at one edge, a photo taken at an angle, a stamp sitting on top of an amount, and faded thermal paper. A native PDF — the one your supplier issued — beats a photo of the same document printed out.

Note

Page count matters: a ten-page statement takes more analysis than a single-sided receipt, and that shows in your Atlas usage.

## Purchase invoice

The richest document type.

* The supplier — name, legal name, ICE, tax identifier, trade register, address and contact details.
* Its bank details — IBAN, RIB, SWIFT and bank name printed on the invoice.
* The invoice itself — number, issue date, due date, currency and period covered.
* The line items — description, quantity, unit price excluding VAT, VAT rate and amount.
* The totals — amount excluding VAT, VAT and total including VAT.
* A suggested ledger allocation, inferred from the line descriptions and from your own habits.

## Cash receipt

A short document, four decisive pieces of information.

* The voucher number as printed on the receipt.
* The date the money came in.
* The amount received and its currency.
* The payer — the name read on the receipt, which React Box tries to match against an existing third party.
* The reason for the payment, when it is stated.

## Bank statement

The most structured document, and the one that feeds cash analytics.

* The account — IBAN, RIB, holder, bank and currency, used to attach the statement to the right account.
* The period covered and the issue date of the statement.
* Opening and closing balances, framing the movement over the period.
* Each transaction — operation date, value date, description, reference, direction and amount.

## What scanning does not do

Scanning reads accounting documents, not any document at all. A contract, a certificate or a letter dropped in the vault stays a readable file: it is not analysed and costs nothing. Likewise, no accounting entry is generated automatically — React Box prepares the data, your accounting firm keeps control of the books.

Warning

Scanning recognises the content of a document, not its legal validity: a non-compliant invoice will be read without any warning.
