# Scanning

Drop in an invoice, a receipt or a statement: React Box reads it and fills the form for you. You review, correct if needed, and validate.

## The principle

Scanning does not replace your judgement, it removes the typing.

* One file dropped, fields pre-filled: number, dates, amounts, third party, line items, depending on the document type.
* Everything recognised stays editable. No value is forced on you.
* Nothing is recorded for good without a human validation — you commit the document, not the machine.
* The original file stays attached to the record and lands in the vault: the source is always one click away.

## Three entry points

Scanning is not a separate screen: it lives inside the modules you already work in.

* Purchase invoices  
A supplier invoice received by email, or a paper one photographed. The scan identifies the supplier, the amounts, the VAT, and suggests a ledger allocation.
* Cash receipts  
A receipt for money taken in cash. The scan reads the number, the date, the amount, the payer and the reason.
* Bank statements  
The statement your bank sends you. The scan recognises the account, the period, the balances and every transaction.

## What runs behind it

Scanning relies on Atlas, the artificial intelligence inside React Box. Documents are analysed by an artificial intelligence model under zero data retention — nothing is kept once the analysis is returned, and your documents are never used to train a model — and every analysis is counted in your Atlas usage. The detail — pages processed, kind of processing, cost — is available in your organization settings.

Tip

Scanning works on the web and in the mobile app alike: photographing an invoice the moment you receive it is still the surest way not to lose it.
