# Connecting an accounting firm

The link between your company and its accounting firm is explicit, reversible, and fits in a code.

## One link, not a set of accounts

A firm does not reach your data because its staff are members of your organization: it reaches it because the two organizations are connected. That single link replaces any individual access management — when someone joins or leaves the firm, you have nothing to do on your side.

The connection is visible: a dedicated card states which firm is connected and since when.

## Setting up the connection

Two paths, depending on who moves first.

* By their code — your firm gives you its code, you enter it in the settings and send a connection request, optionally with a message.
* By your code — the reverse: you pass your organization's code to your firm, which sends you the request.

Note

A code grants no access on its own: it only allows a request to be sent, which the other side must accept.

## What the firm can do

Once connected, the firm reaches your company's vault and the management data it needs to keep your books: third parties, bank accounts, chart of accounts, purchases. It works inside your file under its own name: every upload, every status change, every message stays attributed to the person who made it.

Note

Your organization settings remain yours: the firm manages neither your members, nor your roles, nor your subscription.

## Breaking the link

Removal is immediate and happens from the same page, without going through the firm. It loses access to your documents that second; your data does not move — it belongs to you and stays in your vault. A new connection, with the same firm or another one, can be made whenever you want.

Tip

If your file was created by a firm, it has access from the outset. You can remove that connection like any other.

## Who pays for the file

In most cases the company pays for its own subscription. A firm can, however, take on the billing of a file — useful when it prepares the workspace before its client arrives. The connection page says so plainly when that is the case.
